In Vitro Activities of Aztreonam-avibactam and Comparator Agents against Metallo-β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales Collected in the Middle East and Africa, ATLAS Global Surveillance Program, 2018-2022
tance. On the other hand, in Cx. pipiens species the presence of the resistance allele was expected since this species is endemic in Hungary, and has been the primary target of the chemical treatments, leading to the development of pyrethroid resistance.Based on our research, we are advocating for an integrated vector control program in Hungary, focusing on vector-borne disease prevention, minimizing the ecological harm of chemical treatments and enhancing communication between the stakeholders.Furthermore, we aim to expand resistance testing to other vector species as well. Conclusion:Our study shows the presence of pyrethroid resistance in Cx. pipiens populations in Hungary, highlighting the urgent need to reconsider the local mosquito control methods. The presence of resistance in Ae. albopictus in the neighbouring countries emphasizes the importance of preventive measures.Continued reliance on pyrethroid-based products could exacerbate ecological damage without effectively reduce the targeted mosquito populations. Thus, shifting towards alternative strategies is crucial for a sustainable vector control in Hungary.
