Ranks of tensors: geometry and applications

Abstract In this article, we briefly survey some of the recent results in the geometry of tensors with a focus on bounds for various important notions of ranks. This is written in honor of Edoardo Ballico, who made important contributions to this field, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
