Synthesis and Characterization of Novel 1,2,3-Triazole linked Quinoline-based Thiazolidine-2,4-dione Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents and their Molecular Docking Studies
Novel hybrid molecules incorporating 1,2,3-triazole linked quinoline-based thiazolidine-2,4-dione derivatives (9a-l) were synthesized and validated through various 1H NMR, 13C NMR and ESI-MS. All the synthesized hybrid compounds were assessed for their anticancer activity against two cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and HEPG2, utilizing the MTT assay with doxorubicin as the standard reference drug. In comparison to the standard, compounds 9l, 9h, 9k, 9d and 9b exhibited superior activity against the tested cancer cell lines, MCF-7 and HEPG2. Additionally, molecular docking studies were conducted on the novel derivatives 9a-l against dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), revealing a correlation between the molecular docking results and the observed anticancer activity.
