Estimation of the attractive properties of pheromonal and light traps for seasonal monitoring of the invasive species Halyomorpha halys stal

Brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys is one of the most difficult pests to fight because of it’s high mobility and polyphagous feeding behavior, which allows it to be quickly to colonize new territories. Effective monitoring of populations of this pest is an important task for agronomists and conservation professionals environment. The light trap monitoring method has it’s advantages and the limitations associated with sensitivity to external factors such as lighting, weather conditions, physiological features of the species being attracted and others. Analysis of the data obtained shows that the light trap is less effective for seasonal monitoring of Halyomorpha halys stink bug, compared to pheromones traps. At the same time, the use of aggregation pheromones in as a monitoring tool for Halyomorpha halys is a promising alternative approach. Pheromones can be provide high accuracy in detecting and attracting insects, which makes their potential is more effective than traditional methods.
