RESEARCH ON PREPARING HARD CAPSULES TO SUPPORT THE PREVENTION OF BLOOD LIPID DISORDERS FROM MEDICINAL HERBS
Blood lipid metabolism disorder is related to the excess of fat in the blood, mainly caused by an uncontrolled diet and a sedentary lifestyle, causing atherosclerosis and embolism. The hard capsule to help prevent lipid metabolism disorder is prepared from the traditional medicine remedy Ban ha bach truat thien ma thang including 7 medicinal herbs Ban ha che, Thien ma, Tran bi, Bach truat, licorice, Poria cocos and Hawthorn fruit. The remedy has been recognized by the Ministry of Health to enhance the effect of the medicine. The study aims to develop a formula for preparing dry herbal extract by spray drying method and to develop a hard capsule formula to help prevent lipid metabolism disorder. The medicinal herbs are extracted by hot extraction method with water solvent. The extract was concentrated to create a liquid extract with a solid content of 13%. The excipient maltodextrin is added to create a suitable dry herbal extract of 7.5% by spray dry method. The result was a mixture of fine powder, yellow-brown in color, with a humidity less than 5.0%; recovery efficiency reached 65.34 %. Hard capsules to help prevent blood lipid disorders are prepared according to the formula: 300 mg dry herbal extract, 30 mg lactose, 25 mg talc, 25 mg magnesium stearate . The prepared capsules meet the quality requirements according to the standards of the Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia V. The research results are the basis for preparing hard capsule products to help prevent blood lipid disorders to improve public health.
