The static elastoplastic analysis of new multi-layer frame-bent industrial building structure

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the seismic performance of a new type of multi-layer frame-bent structure industrial plant through the static elastoplastic analysis method. The study provides a detailed design description of the frame structure, including its basic structural characteristics, load effects, and seismic design requirements. A numerical model was established by using static elastoplastic analysis techniques, taking into account the non-uniformity of the structure’s mass and stiffness distribution, as well as the complexity of the system. Simulating the structural response under different earthquake actions, the relationship between base shear force and vertex displacement was analyzed, and the weak links of the structure were identified. The results indicate that under high-intensity earthquake action, the structure exhibits complex behavior patterns, and the top layer becomes weak due to the whip effect and sudden changes in lateral stiffness. The study emphasizes the importance of reasonably setting up top-level lateral support to enhance the stability and seismic performance of the structure.
