Characterization of energy absorption of metal rubber based on SHPB test
Abstract In order to protect the weak parts from being damaged, it is a common method to choose the appropriate buffer material to resist the impact. In this article, metal rubber is the object of study, and the energy absorption characteristics of the buffer material based on the separated Hopkinson bar test under the same impact load are studied. The test results show that, under the same impact load, the thickness of the metal rubber more energy is greater, and the value of energy absorption efficiency also increases. The maximum energy absorption efficiency of the metal rubber with a thickness of 15 mm is 5.81 J, and the energy absorption efficiency is 9.7%.
