Cosmic symbols of Russian identity (based on the sculptural compositions of Moscow and the Moscow region)
One of the priorities of the state at the present stage is the strengthening of national civic iden tity, which is an important factor in ensuring social stability. An important role in solving this problem belongs to monumental art, first of all, to those of its monuments, which depict the glorious pages of the history of the Fatherland. Based on this, the purpose of the article was to reveal the ideological and symbolic content of four sculptural compositions of Moscow and the Moscow region dedicated to the topic of space exploration, as well as their comparative analysis. The main methods used were various types of analysis – comparative historical, cultural, aesthetic, as well as the principles and rules of hermeneutics. As a result, it was revealed both what is common to all monuments, and what is individually special that distinguishes them from each other. The first is a romantically colored dynamism, striving forward and upward, symbolizing not only the idea of social and scientific and technological progress, but also expressing the motive of steady personal growth. The second is manifested in various accents: technocratic, cosmopolitan and humanistic. In general, the studied monuments do not just decorate the urban environment, but due to the wealth of meanings objectified in them, they have great educational potential, awakening in the recipient not only a sense of pride in his country, but also encour aging active creative activity for the benefit of the Fatherland, to constant personal self-development. The prac tical significance of the results obtained is related to the possibility of their use both in the course of patriotic education in educational institutions of various levels, and in teaching the new university discipline "Funda mentals of Russian Statehood".
