A Study on Nail Design Applying Dreams and Fantastic Characteristics in Surrealist Works: Focusing on Vladimir Kush
This study aims to expand the scope of nail design materials that can satisfy the tendencies of various consumers and provide commercialized materials through nail art works that apply the dream and fantastic characteristics of surrealist works. The research methods of this paper are as follows. In order to theoretically examine the dream and fantastic characteristics of Vladimir Kush’s works among surrealist artists, we analyzed Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis theory that influenced surrealism, previous research on Vladimir Kush, and the contents of exhibitions. Through this, we created five works that applied the dream and fantastic characteristics of the artist’s works, and extracted the design points of each work to present nail stencil plate designs. We also created nail tarot cards to provide materials that can actually be used in salons. Through this study, we developed new designs by applying the dream and fantastic characteristics of surrealist artists that were not covered in previous studies in the nail art field, and we believe that it will be helpful in the field of nail art design research and education and training for nail design development.
