Petrophysical Properties Models of Mishrif Formation in X Oilfield, Southern Iraq
The distribution of petrophysical properties and the structure's framework are described in geological models, which are crucial for understanding how reservoir heterogeneity affects fluid flow behavior. Geological models are also used to calculate the amount of oil that is initially underground and to determine the best location for new wells in reservoir management. In this study, a geological model for the Mishrif Formation has been built by using data from six wells in X oilfield (X-20, X-23, X-24, X-26, X-34, and X-33). Carbonate rocks are the main lithology of the Mishrif Formation X oilfield with a secondary occurrence of shale unit. Based on well log data, the formation was subdivided into four units (CR-1, MA, CR-2, and MB), with the reservoir units having high porosity in the majority of wells that were separated by cap rocks with low porosity. Cap rocks are distinguished by high water saturation, whereas the MB unit displayed a notable prevalence of residual hydrocarbons. In contrast, the MA unit showed a diminsished proportion of residual hydrocarbons with high porosity. CR-I unite was found in all of the study's wells. All the wells were having a porosity range between 0.11-0.27 and water saturation ranging between 0.92 and 1. MA unit the results of the analysis and interpretation of the logs revealed that it contained reservoir water in the X oilfield. a porosity ranged between 0.16 and 0.19 for X, and water saturation ranged between 0.80 and 0.87 for X oilfield. In CR-II unite all wells were having a porosity that ranged between 0.24 and 0.30 and water saturation ranged between 0.83 and 0.98. In MB unite the porosity of this unit ranges between 0.18 and 0.25, and water saturation reaches between 0.20 and 0.43. This unit is considered as the most significant reservoir of the Mishrif Formation.
