Privacy-preserving methods for smart meter data - a systematization of knowledge
The integration of smart meters into energy grids is rapidly advancing, enhancing energy management and transforming traditional grids into smart grids. This progress, driven by real-time data from smart meters, enables benefits like real-time monitoring, efficient billing, and innovative demand-side management. However, detailed household data collection raises significant privacy concerns, revealing consumption patterns, lifestyle habits, and occupancy. Addressing these privacy issues is crucial. Numerous privacy-preserving methods have been proposed to protect smart meter data. This paper aims to systematically analyze and synthesize existing knowledge on these methods, identifying potential gaps and areas for future research. A comprehensive systematization of knowledge (SoK) analysis of this field is currently missing.
