3-Level Strategy of insulation status monitoring for critical HV motors and generators

This article summarizes why electrical diagnosis of the stator winding insulation status is a crucial part of the predictive maintenance program for critical HV motors and generators. Furthermore, it elaborates, why a combination of periodic offline testing and online partial discharge monitoring is the most efficient strategy for condition based maintenance of the machine insulation status throughout it´s lifecycle.
