Development of Molecular Docking Algorithms to Evaluate Therapeutic Potential of Ferulic Acid’s in Diabetic Wound Healing
This study explores the interaction between ferulic acid, a natural phenolic compound, and Angiopoietin-like Protein 4 (ANGPTL4) through in silico methods. Due to its strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, ferulic acid holds promise for therapeutic use in managing diabetes. The docking analysis reveals promising results, particularly in diabetic wound healing, where ANGPTL4 plays a critical role. The predicted binding energy of -7.5 kcal/mol suggests a strong affinity between ferulic acid and ANGPTL4, with the formation of stable hydrogen bonds at key residues in the protein's active site. ANGPTL4 deficiency is linked to impaired angiogenesis, inflammation, and delayed wound healing in diabetic conditions, making it a critical target. These findings highlight Ferulic acid’s potential as a therapeutic agent to improve diabetic wound healing. While the results are promising, further experimental validation is required to confirm the efficacy of Ferulic acid and to investigate its broader therapeutic applications in wound care. This study underscores the value of In silico approaches for identifying molecular mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of dietary compounds in metabolic disorders. The findings suggest potential implications for the development of novel therapeutic strategies for diabetes, specifically in addressing complications such as impaired wound healing. In summary, Ferulic acid shows promise in alleviating diabetic complications, with further research needed to expand on its therapeutic potential.
