UWB and High-Gain Shaped Metal Jet Antenna Design

The shaped metal jet antenna is an emerging type of antenna and offers a novel concept for deformable antennas. However, this jet antenna, resembling a monopole antenna, also inherits the drawbacks of narrow bandwidth and poor directivity typical of monopole designs. To address these issues, this study introduces a conical base for the antenna, leveraging the ultra- wideband and high-gain characteristics of conical antennas. The design successfully integrates the advantages of both antenna types, expanding the bandwidth. Simulation results indicate that after incorporating the conical base, the antenna's operating range extended to 1–20 GHz, with a bandwidth improvement of over 15 times. Additionally, the antenna achieved a peak gain of 8.3 dBi within the usable frequency range, significantly advancing the practical engineering applications of shaped metal jet antennas.
