5G Campus Network Deployment for Outdoor-to-Indoor Rescue Use Cases
The advent of 5G private networks enables diverse communication demands including emergency response services such as forest and people rescue. These campus networks can meet specific operational and security demands of stakeholders. Due to the sophistication of network deployment and application integration, this paper explains these procedures showcasing firefighting mission requisites. The development includes the hardware and software of network components, the integration of 5G components, and the integration of Internet of Things devices with the network. The deployment has been preceded by a radio planning that assists finding the optimal location and orientation for the sector antenna in rescue context. The network deployment has been assessed by radio, throughput, and latency measurements to examine the network coverage quality, performance and reliability, respectively. The paper summarizes the challenges of outdoor-to-indoor propagation and proposes future solutions based on the state-of-the-art in the technology.
