Electromagnetic Pulse Damage Study of Low-noise Amplifier Module for Navigation Receiver Front-End
This paper investigates the voltage damage threshold and main damage types of the low-noise amplifier (LNA) module in the front-end of UAV receivers through high-altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) equivalent injection experiments. Conduct electromagnetic pulse injection experiments by using EFT equivalent HEMP waveform. By designing experiments, compare the insertion loss (S21) and return loss (S11) of LNA modules before and after injecting electromagnetic pulses with different voltage amplitudes, and analyze the damage voltage threshold and damage type of LNA modules. After analyzing and organizing the experimental data, it was found that the damage types of the LNA module were related to the amplitude of the injection voltage. The main damage types were degraded LNA signal amplification function (injection voltage of 1500-2000V), transistor short circuit (injection voltage of 2000-2250V), and transistor open circuit (injection voltage higher than 2250V). This paper enriches the study of electromagnetic damage effects on the front end of UAV receivers, and provides a reference for the study of electromagnetic protection of UAV receivers or EMP weapons.
