The Technology Development and Application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in the Agriculture Field in Indonesia

In the last few decades, agricultural technology, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), has been very rapid. For this reason, there is a need to research the scientific structure related to the development of agricultural technology and UAV applications, especially in Indonesia. The research takes a comprehensive literature study to provide information on the appropriate use of agricultural technology and UAV applications to increase productivity. UAV applications in the agricultural sector in Indonesia include mapping and surveying agricultural land, monitoring plant health and growth, spraying fertilizers and pesticides, estimating crop yields, irrigation management, data analysis, and weather monitoring. The development program for the use of UAVs in the agricultural sector in Indonesia has great potential to continue to develop in the future. However, there are obstacles to the application of UAVs in the agricultural sector, including high costs and low accessibility, limited skills and knowledge of farmers, maintenance and sustainability, infrastructure, diversity, and local needs. In the future, several main areas are likely to become the focus of research and development, including precision mapping, crop monitoring, precision agriculture, big data in agriculture, IoT integration, UAV battery technology, UAV safety system, technology adaptation for local commodities, and UAV training programs for farmers.
