Linguopoetic features of the “collective text” pattern (epistolary multi-subject notes) in Russian literature

The research aims to identify the features of the “collective text” pattern in relation to the distribution of grammatical categories in comparison with other texts by the same authors. The research material consists of three examples of “collective texts”: A. P. Chekhov’s “The Complaints Book”, A. Shuysky’s “The Notice Board”, and an excerpt from M. A. Bulgakov’s novel “The White Guard”. A common feature of the analyzed texts is the imitation of inscriptions from various subjects, both related and independent. The comparison of the three texts, previously unanalyzed in such a manner, as well as the identification of the distribution patterns of reflexive and non-reflexive verbs in these texts, account for the scientific originality of this work. As a result of the research, it has been found for the first time that “collective texts” are characterized by a “significant absence” of reflexive verbs – their proportion in the total number of verb forms is two or more times less than in other texts by the same authors. This is due to the use of the communicative register of first-person speech and the absence of narrative fragments in the analyzed texts.
