Development of a modular plant for the purification of groundwater with high mineralization

The issue of proper provision of drinking water supply in Ukraine is relevant, which is confirmed by the constant attention of state bodies and the development and implementation of a number of important documents.Ukraine, like many other countries, faces a number of challenges in the field of water supply, including aging infrastructure, pollution of water sources and insufficient wastewater treatment.Traditional water treatment systems are not always effective, in particular, in remote settlements and during emergencies, such as floods, military conflicts or man-made disasters. In these conditions, the need for local solutions for water treatment becomes especially relevant, which necessitates further research to develop domestically produced mobile plants for obtaining drinking water from various alternative sources.Based on the analysis of modern solutions for the creation of modular plants for the purification of drinking water from natural sources, the main technological stages that can be used in such systems have been identified.A basic hardware and technological scheme for purifying water of different chemical composition has been proposed and an industrial sample of a modular installation has been manufactured. The results of the study of the influence of the total salt content in the incoming water, the temperature regime and the membrane fouling coefficient on the indicators of the total salt content of purified water and specific electricity consumption are presented.Experimental studies have been conducted and it has been shown that in the case of purifying water of high mineralization (up to 3000 mg/l), the efficiency of removing the main chemical components from water was within 90-97%, which ensures compliance with these indicators of drinking water quality. The efficiency of removing total iron (80%) and permanganate oxidation compounds (50%) was somewhat lower. From a technological point of view, the use of modular installations allows optimizing the stages of water purification taking into account the features of the chemical composition of the incoming water, provided that the water purification system is compact, mobile and autonomous.
