«Bibliography and Bibliology»: the old and new scientific journal

The history of the oldest professional periodical on the problems of the book business, which celebrates its 95th anniversary in 2024, is briefly described. Almost all this time the journal was an organ of the Book Chamber: from 1929 it was published as the journal «Bibliography», then under the name «Library Science and Bibliography» (from 1930 to 1933). From 1933 to mid-1992 it was published under the title «Soviet Bibliography» (as a collection of articles and materials until 1978, then as a journal). The periodicity of the issue 6 times a year was established since 1959. From 1992 to 2014 it was published under the title Bibliography, and from 2015 (after the RBC became part of ITAR-TASS) under the title «Bibliography and Book Studies». In 2022 the Book Chamber became part of the Russian State Library, which led to the inclusion of «Bibliography and Book Studies» in the number of scientific journals published by the library from 2023.
