Electron energy loss spectra of magnesium in autoionization region
An experimental study of the autoionization spectra of magnesium by electron impact is given.Electron impact excitation of neutral magnesium atoms above the ionization limit leads to the states that auto-ionize.Energy loss spectra up to 12 eV are recorded at impact electron energies of 30 and 40 eV and scattering angles of 6 and 10 degrees. The two features at 10.09 and 10.46 eV we assigned to the 3s3d 1 D2 and 3s3d 3 D1,2,3 states.
