A STUDY TO ASSESS EFFECTIVENESS OF BEETROOT JUICE ON CBC AMONG NURSING STUDENTS WITH IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA IN SELECTED COLLEGE OF JALANDHAR CANTT
Iron deciency anemia (IDA) is a signicant nutritional issue worldwide and affects 1.6 billion people worldwide with women of reproductive age and children being disproportionately affected. Consequences of untreated IDA include impaired cognitive function, decreased immune function, poor pregnancy outcomes, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Beetroot juice supplementation has a positive impact on the hematological parameters particularly hemoglobin and hematocrit level in a healthy individual. This study aimed to evaluate the efcacy of beetroot juice in improving Complete Blood Count (CBC) levels among nursing students with IDA in Jalandhar Cantt. Utilizing a quasi-experimental pre-test post-test design, 46 nursing students with hemoglobin levels below 11.9 g/dl were randomly selected. Participants in the experimental group consumed 100 ml of beetroot juice daily for 60 days, while the control group received no intervention. Pretest and post-test data were collected to measure the outcomes. Results indicated a signicant difference in CBC levels between the groups, showcasing notable improvements in the experimental group. The study concludes that beetroot juice effectively elevate Complete Blood Count (CBC) level of iron deciency anemia in nursing students.
