Cuphea carthagenensis (Jacq.) J.F.Macbr. (Lythraceae) — a new non-native plant record for the Eastern Ghats of India
The wild occurrence of Cuphea carthagenensis (Jacq.) J.F.Macbr. (Lythraceae), a native of South America and so far known from the northeastern region of India is reported from the higher hills of Koraput District of Odisha. The collection of the species in southern Odisha is interesting in view of its wild occurrence, invasiveness, and the range expansion to the Eastern Ghats of India. The nomenclature, description, notes on distribution, and citations of specimens studied are provided along with colour photographs for easy identification.
