Low-cost carrier ethics management_ Comparative study of Ryanair and Jeju Air

This study compared and analyzed the ethical management performance of low-cost carrier Ryanair and Jeju Air in terms of four key areas: safety, customer service, protection of workers’ rights, and environmental protection. As a result, both airlines were building customer trust through ethical management while maintaining low fares, and making various efforts to achieve sustainable growth. Despite their commonality as low-cost carrier, the two airlines show significant differences in their ethical management practices. Overall, Jeju Air was found to be practicing more systematic and balanced ethical management than Ryanair, and the results of the comparison and analysis in terms of key areas are as follows. In conclusion, a balance between cost efficiency and ethical management is essential for the sustainable growth of low-cost carrier. The case of Jeju Air shows that such a balance is possible and can serve as an important model for securing competitiveness in the global aviation market in the future. On the other hand, the case of Ryanair shows the limitations and risks of extreme cost-cutting strategies, and paradoxically emphasizes the importance of ethical management. In future research, it is necessary to quantitatively analyze the impact of ethical management practices on the financial performance and corporate value of airlines. In addition, research on ethical management practices in the changed aviation industry environment after the COVID-19 pandemic will also be necessary.
