Institutionalization of Evidence-Based Policy Making(EBPM) in Japan: Process and Characteristics

This study analyzes the institutionalization process of Evidence-Based Policy Making (EBPM) in Japan. Since the early 2000s, the Japanese government has gradually implemented EBPM through mechanisms such as policy evaluation systems, quantitative indicators, and administrative project reviews. This study explores the background of EBPM adoption, specific implementation cases, and the outcomes and limitations observed during this process. By examining Japan’s experience, the study aims to derive implications for the development of EBPM in South Korea and discuss the essence and directions for improving effective policy evaluation.
