Research on corruption in the sports world and measures to eradicate corruption

This study analyzed cases of corruption in the sports world into four major types: financial and administrative corruption, game-related corruption, organizational personnel and operation-related corruption, and corruption related to the external sports environment. As a result, each type seriously undermined the fairness and reliability of sports. Financial and administrative corruption in the sports world has taken various forms, including budget embezzlement and misappropriation, bribery and sponsorship corruption, and corruption in hosting international competitions, which has seriously damaged the fairness and credibility of sports. Corruption related to games in the sports world has taken various forms, including referee irregularities, doping and drug manipulation, and intervention by teams or officials, which has been found to seriously damage the fairness and credibility of sports. Corruption related to organizational personnel and operations is divided into nepotism and monopolization of player opportunities, which is a major factor hindering the fairness and development of sports. In order to resolve this corruption, it is necessary to increase the transparency of the personnel system, have policies for fair distribution of resources, and make continuous efforts to protect the fairness of sports. Corruption related to the external environment of the sports world was shown to be linked to illegal gambling and waste of public funds, which was found to significantly undermine the credibility of sports, and such corruption was found to have a negative impact on all stakeholders related to sports. In conclusion, the types of corruption in the sports world were diverse, and each type was a serious problem that undermined the fairness and reliability of sports. To solve this, a comprehensive approach is needed, including establishing a transparent management system, strengthening legal sanctions, and improving education and awareness. It will be important for all stakeholders to cooperate to eradicate corruption and create a healthy sports environment. Future research on corruption in sports should be conducted quantitatively, including an integrated approach, in-depth case studies, suggestions for policy improvement, international comparative studies, and technical approaches. Research on early detection and prevention of corruption using data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will also be necessary.
