The article presents the scientific activity of the Russian Academy of Education in connection with the «Year of the Family» proclaimed by the President of Russia for 2024. The author pays special attention to the scientific-practical conference «Family Reading – A Traditional Russian Value. History and Modernity». Its purpose and tasks related to the understanding of the significance of the phenomenon of family reading for the full functioning of the family as an educational institution are analysed.
