Power System Robustness Mitigation at Petrochemical Cogen Plant Using Phasor Measurement Unit
This paper presents an approach to power system stability mitigation at a petrochemical plant using Phasor Measurement Unit or phasor measurement unit technology, aimed at preventing unnecessary plant downtime due to power disturbances, particularly in large island scenarios. The paper elaborates on the methodologies and mitigation strategies to address issues associated with large islanding, followed by a discussion on mitigation plans designed to safeguard power supply to the petrochemical plant. Additionally, a study is conducted involving simulation of fault conditions to identify threshold values for power angle, voltage, and frequency deviations in order to detect large island conditions. These thresholds enable the plant's power management system to react appropriately, thereby preventing plant mini grid collapse and ensuring continuous operation.
