Virtual Power Plant Technology: Opportunities and Challenges for Deployment in Malaysia
Virtual power plants (VPPs) are aggregators for distributed energy resources (DERs) with the ability to balance supply and demand and provide grid services. VPP is able to coordinate and synchronize DERs operation, in achieving their optimal operation. Through proper initiatives and strategies, VPPs have potential in empowering the economy via innovative business models. This paper provides some insights on the evolution of VPP and highlight its deployment opportunities and challenges in Malaysia.
