Graphical Information-Based Formulation of Energy Relations and Cost of Energy Assessment for an Educational Distribution Network

This paper presents an efficient method to formulate relations for energy flows and energy losses in the Radial Distribution Networks (RDN). This approach begins by constructing the directed paths of graph along the RDN and then assessing the power consumption at each node and tracking energy flow in paths from the reference node through the feeder, up to the Distribution Board (DB). The proposed straightforward technique is based on network information and duration of load at every node of network. These details of a network will help to evaluate the cost of energy. The formulated equations in matrix form will support in the modern distribution automation study. These new formulations will help to find energy drawn at each node and the losses along each path using novel Time of Load at Node [TLN] matrix. Generally, the amount of Carbon dioxide release will vary from 0.85 - 1.1 kg/ unit of electricity generated or saved by (TURNOFF/reduce) Time of load at Node. The effectiveness energy formulations are demonstrated by applying for an IEEE 15 Bus distribution network and at 04 Bus National University in Muscat, Oman network. Further, the proposed method test results are validated using MATLAB Version 7.0. This reported method is found flexible and efficient and having potential for scalability to a RDN with higher energy capacities.
