Optimizing an Integrated Wind-Solar-Pumped Storage System for Low-Carbon Energy Planning

This paper delves into strategies for optimizing integrated energy systems that incorporate pumped hydro storage alongside wind and solar power, with a specific focus on industrial parks and within the broader framework of global carbon reduction initiatives. A detailed energy system model that integrates pumped hydro storage is developed, and a multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is employed to design the system. This study thoroughly assesses the viability and advantages of such systems under scenarios with a high supply of renewable energy. The findings reveal that the optimized integrated energy system significantly lowers both energy supply costs and carbon emissions when compared to traditional energy systems. Additionally, the research underscores that appropriately sized energy storage is crucial for enhancing the self-consumption of renewable energy, which in turn improves the system's economic and operational efficiency. The study highlights the pivotal role of pumped hydro storage in augmenting the capabilities of renewable energy systems and proposes a comprehensive framework for developing efficient, low-carbon energy solutions tailored for industrial applications. This approach not only contributes to the advancement of energy system optimization but also aligns with sustainable development goals by facilitating the transition towards greener industrial operations.
