IoT-Based DroolSense for Cerebral Palsy Patients
Excessive drooling or sialorrhea is a serious condition caused by cerebral palsy in patients. Dehydration, aspiration pneumonia, and potential skin infections result from it. To manage this condition and stop further health deterioration, early detection of the said condition and swift management are required. Here, we present DroolSense as an Internet of Things solution for real-time monitoring and identification of excessive drooling. DroolSense is a proactive approach to drooling management, and it ensures timely interventions because it sends alerts to caregivers on mobile phones. Since the system removes the risks that come with unchecked drooling, it has been very reliable and may even help patients who will end up with better care. Future work will examine predictive analytics and better integration into sophisticated health monitoring systems further to advance its capabilities in telemedicine and home healthcare settings.
