Leveraging IEEE 802.11 Network Proximity Detection for Device-Based Authentication and Latency-Optimized Presence Logging in Institutional Attendance Systems
In modern educational institutions, accurately tracking student attendance is essential. This study proposes an innovative Wi-Fi Attendance System that automates the process of marking attendance based on students' connection to the institution's Wi-Fi network. The system prompts students to register by entering their preferred user ID and password upon connecting to the Wi-Fi, storing their information along with their device's IP address. Subsequent connections are authenticated by matching the user ID and IP address, marking students as present, absent, or missing. Rigorous testing evaluates system performance, emphasizing reliability and efficiency. This system reduces manual effort and enhances attendance accuracy, contributing to streamlined administrative processes in educational settings.
