Design of a Modular 20 kV RC Divider Based on SMD Components for Power Quality Measurement Using 3D Printing
This study uses surface-mounted devices (SMD) and 3D-printed components to rapidly produce high voltage RC dividers while meeting standardized design criteria for application in power quality measurement. Therefore, this study presents a concept to improve state-of-the-art SMD-based dividers with a 3 dB bandwidth up to 150 kHz. The concept is based on the electrical field distribution and identification of electrical hotspots. Besides, the study implements an improved 20 kV RC divider showing improved characteristics compared to state-of-the-art SMD-based RC dividers. The design provides a way to produce RC dividers fast, meeting the high demand of system operators for power quality measurement devices.
