A Novel Algorithm to Securely Live Stream Videos Over the Network
The security and privacy concerns of transmitted data have already become a significant aspect of multimedia technology. With the advancement in digital content transmission, there has been a major upswing in security breaches in the last few years. The proposed system utilises a secure pipeline to transmit video data from a server to a client over a wireless network, demonstrating both low transmission latency and robust data integrity. In this study, the algorithm was written using AES-CBC to encrypt the video data bit by bit, providing strong protection against unauthorised access. FFmpeg was crucial in the research, allowing for the encoding, transmission, and decoding of video streams. Data integrity was ensured by comparing the hash of the original video chunk before encryption to the hash of the decrypted video chunk on the client side before the actual video playback. Also, to analyse the system's performance, encryption latency, decryption latency, and playback latency were measured. The findings underline the effectiveness of the algorithm used in safeguarding video streams against unauthorised access and data corruption, highlighting its potential for broader applications in secure media streaming.
