Automated Identification of Age-Related Macular Degeneration in Color Retinal Fundus Images
Drusen's are yellowish-white spots that accumulate beneath the retina. The retina may be affected after the age of 50 owing to the appearance of drusen. Early diagnosis of drusen can aid ophthalmologists in Administering suitable care with age- related macular degeneration (ALMD). We have developed an innovative automated approach for detecting drusen's in color retinal fundus images. First, the input color image is transformed into grayscale image, and then a image morphology performed to diminish retinal blood vessels. The background is eliminated from the grayscale image, and the contrast is then adjusted. A basic cut-off method is finally used to divide the drusen's that exists in the retinal image. The proposed method was evaluated on the STARE database and Obtained precision of 96.21%.
