Variable Power Up-Link Beamforming
Wireless communication generally deploys up-link beamforming as a technique to enhance signal strength and reliability by concentrating the signal toward a single receiving device. The generation of adaptive spatial signals is achieved through the use of an array of transmitters or receivers in an adaptive beamformer. Variable power beamforming proposed in this paper further enhances the performance of the beamforming by generating main lobes as well as different power levels in desired directions. The proposed method is based on convex optimization with constraints on the direction and power levels of the main beam addition to side-lobe levels and nulls.
