CASE REPORT: HYPOPLASTIC LEFT HEART SYNDROME WITH AORTIC ATRESIA IN A 12 MONTH-OLD INFANT
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a rare and severe congenital heart defect characterized by underdevelopment of the left-sided cardiac structures, leading to inadequate systemic circulation. This case report presents a 12-month-old male infant diagnosed with HLHS, aortic atresia, hypoplastic mitral valve, rudimentary left ventricle, and a large patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) with a right-to-left shunt. The patient exhibited cyanosis, respiratory distress, and failure to thrive. The report discusses the clinical presentation, diagnostic findings, management, and prognosis.
