Quadcopter Protective Shell Design Against Harsh and Extreme Weather
In this research, a quadcopter, a drone with four propellers, has been assembled. The protective cover using Solid Work 2023 software has been designed to safeguard engines and other aircraft parts from damage in dusty weather conditions. The use of PLA+ is crucial because it is unbreakable and withstands harsh weather conditions while improving the mechanical properties of the aircraft. The PLA+ cover has been made by using a Creality K1 Max printer. In this work, the mechanical properties of the material from which the PLA+ protective film has been made have been tested. The plane has been tested in a wind tunnel with simultaneous wind and dust, and achieved positive results. A 6-hour test has revealed complete failure of the engines without a protective cover. This study aims to benefit from the advantages of both aircraft and drones, protect them from harsh climates, and perform their work with ease in such climates.
