Maximum likelihood ratio algorithm for mixed DNA of three contributors
This paper explores the analysis of mixed DNA samples from three contributors using the maximum likelihood ratio (MLR) algorithm, aiming to improve the accuracy of complex DNA sample analysis in forensic science. By using multi-site short tandem repeat (STR) markers combined with population gene frequency information, the maximum likelihood ratio method was used to estimate the proportion of DNA contribution of each contributor in the mixed sample. The research shows that this method can effectively distinguish the DNA components of different suspects and provide quantitative evidence support for judicial authorities. This paper also discusses how to use this method to debate in court, provide an objective and transparent evidence evaluation framework, and help the court to make a scientific and fair decision. In conclusion, the maximum likelihood ratio method improves the accuracy of the analysis of mixed DNA samples, and provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of forensic identification methods and future DNA evidence analysis.
