Validation and performance aspects of a MFRT event for a type 3 windfarm in Australia
The paper uses a real multiple fault event (MFRT) in Australia to explain and discuss different aspects of doubly fed inducti on generator (DFIG) wind turbine (WTG) design and performance. The event has been used as a validation scenario for an electromagnetic transient (EMT) model of the wind farm (WF) and different approaches to recreate the fault conditions. The paper reflects the characteristics of MFRT and explains technical challenges during MFRT and a path to overcome this.
