An impedance-based approach for harmonic emission assessment of power generation plants

The paper presents a novel approach for harmonic assessment of inverter-based power plants, developed by the FGW working group on harmonic models. The approach enhances current procedures by utilizing validated Thévenin or Norton equivalent models, consisting of internal harmonic sources and frequency-dependent impedance characteristics. This allows for independent evaluation of source-driven harmonics from resonance-based harmonics.

Abstract

The paper presents a novel approach for harmonic assessment of inverter-based power plants, developed by the FGW working group on harmonic models. The approach enhances current procedures by utilizing validated Thévenin or Norton equivalent models, consisting of internal harmonic sources and frequency-dependent impedance characteristics. This allows for independent evaluation of source-driven harmonics from resonance-based harmonics.
