Simulation modeling of PV systems in low voltage networks according to grid codes

The research project ‘Fuchstal leuchtet’, building upon insights from LINDA 2.0, explores the feasibility of maintaining stable grid operation within an exclusive converter-based network. The study focuses on ensuring system stability by addressing key factors such as frequency and voltage stability, all while avoiding reliance on overarching network communication. A principal component of this research is the examination of the interaction between grid-forming and grid-following inverters, particularly photovoltaic (PV) generation units within the low voltage (LV) grid. Given the varied commissioning dates and differing grid codes of these PV systems, they represent a crucial element to be implemented into the network's simulation model. Consequently, this paper introduces a PV simulation model that is validated using measurement data conducted during field deployments. This model allows the integration of various PV systems, each exhibiting distinct normative behaviours, into simulated networks.
