Grid connection requirements for power-to-gas facilities
Across Europe the expected hydrogen ramp-up is accelerating while current standards and requirements regarding controllable loads are insufficient to guarantee system security. The European legislation cannot keep pace with this development with regard to the implementation of new regulations. In order to ensure rapid expansion of electrolysis capacities while maintaining secure operation of the grid, technical requirements for the connection of these systems to the German extra-high-voltage grid must be met. The four German transmission system operators have defined a consolidated position on the basic requirements for these facilities and outline that joint view in this article.
