Effect of Cool Dialysate on Reducing Hypotension and Restless Leg Syndrome among Hemodialysis Patient

Context: Hemodialysis (HD) patients frequently experience the distressing side effects of restless legs syndrome (RLS) and intradialytic hypotension (IDH). It may induce patients to experience discomforting symptoms, lead to vascular access thrombosis, and reduce the efficiency of dialysis. So, it is necessary to prevent this complication. Aim: The purpose of this research was to assess the effect of cool dialysate on the reduction of IDH and RLS. Methods: A purposive sample of 88 patients admitted to the HD department at Benha University Hospital Qalyoubia, Egypt, was subjected to a quasi-experimental research design (control group and study). The study use the following tools, I: Structured Interviewing Questionnaires, II: IDH Assessment, and III: International RLS Severity Rating Scale (IRLSSRS). Results demonstrate that the incidence of IDH signs and symptoms after the second and fourth weeks of intervention differed statistically significantly between patients in the two groups, with a statistically significant P-value of 0.003. Also, that there were high statistically significant difference between patients of both groups regarding total level of RLS post-intervention (2nd and 4th week), with a statistically significant P-value of
