BIOFUMIGATION FOR CONTROLLING FUSARIUM CROWN ROT AND HEAD BLIGHT OF WHEAT

Fusarium species are capable of causing various diseases in wheat, such as Fusarium crown rot (FCR) and Fusarium head blight (FHB). We used Fusarium pseudograminearum )OK465188( for evaluating the impact of four biofumigant plants (Cabbage, Turnip, Rocket, and Radish) on the vegetative growth, pathological and yield characteristics of five wheat cultivars (Misr1, Misr3, Giza171, Sakha95, and Sids14), in comparison to a control treatment for controlling crown rot and head blight of wheat. Greenhouse experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of biofumigation for controlling FCR and FHB diseases of wheat during two growing seasons. These results approved that biofumigation is a promising and environmentally friendly approach for managing FCR and FHB diseases in wheat.Greenhouse experiment have demonstrated the effectiveness of biofumigation for controlling Fusarium crown rot (FCR) disease of wheat during two growing seasons.
