Carbon dioxide capture projects: specifics of implementation and cost estimation (on the example of coal-fired power plants in Russia)
The article examines the features of projects involving carbon dioxide capture and economic incentives for their implementation. The cost analysis and assessment of the implementation of such capture technologies for coal-fired power plants in Russia are performed. The special role of the implementation of such capture technologies at coal-fired power plants is determined. The resulting estimated capture cost for two Russian power plants showed a high level of costs. A comparative analysis of the capture cost at two facilities with different capacity and territorial location made it possible to identify the main cost factors: the cost of installation and the volume of capture.
