Alternation of qu (UCT) and Water Content (w) Parameters of East Borneo Expansive Clay under Wetting-Drying Process
Abstract Expansive clay is clay having a high potential for swell – shrinkage when soil water content change. A road construction built on expansive soil will be damaged when the water content of soil varies. To determine the level of road damage based on natural compressive strength is required to know some correlation between compressive strength (q u ) and water content (w) in the study area. Research aims to determine compressive strength (q u ) and water content (w) vales based on Unconfined Compression Test (UCT), so that it can be predicted an optimum moisture content. Percentage of swelling potential of expansive clay sample will be decrease as long as the addition of wetting – drying cycle during the process and water content.
