A lightweight and efficient authentication and key agreement scheme for photovoltaic systems

Abstract A photovoltaic system employs solar cell modules and supplementary apparatus to transform solar energy into electrical energy. Its stable operation and security are directly related to people’s livelihood and social development. A variety of authentication schemes have been put forth as potential solutions to the security challenges in the photovoltaic system. However, the majority of these approaches continue to exhibit shortcomings in terms of privacy and/or performance. To enhance the efficiency and security of the photovoltaic systems, we propose a lightweight and efficient scheme for authenticating and agreeing keys‥ In this proposed scheme, we adopted lightweight operations such as cascading, XOR, and hashing to reduce the storage and computational overhead, rendering it more suitable for resource-constrained scenarios. Performance analysis and experiments demonstrate that the scheme exhibits advantages in both one-to-one and one-to-many circumstances, rendering it suitable for the photovoltaic system.
