QUALIFICAÇÃO DOS PROFISSIONAIS DE EDUCAÇÃO SEGUNDO A LEI LUCAS COM ÊNFASE NA MANOBRA DE HEIMLICH
Introduction: Student safety in the school environment is a priority concern, especially due to the various risks to which children are exposed, including the aspiration of foreign bodies. The Lucas Law represents a crucial measure in this context, establishing guidelines for the training of educators in first aid, with emphasis on the Heimlich maneuver technique. Objective: To evaluate the qualification of education professionals according to the Lucas Law, with emphasis on the Heimlich maneuver. Methodology: This is a research that used a qualitative descriptive exploratory method. A structured questionnaire containing objective questions was used and applied in municipal and private schools in the city of Petrolina-PE. The data collected were converted into absolute frequency, relative frequency and mean. Result: The research was conducted with 15 teachers who work in early childhood education in the public (8) and private (7) networks in the city of Petrolina-PE. 53% of teachers said they were unaware of the Lucas Law, but 87% highlighted the importance of the Heimlich maneuver. Only 20% of them had witnessed choking situations and performed the maneuver. Conclusion: Due to the low level of knowledge in first aid, there is a need for frequent training and updates. The correct application of the Heimlich maneuver requires greater preparation. All teachers interviewed are interested in new courses, and this reflects the desire to acquire autonomy and confidence in dealing with emergencies in the school environment.
